Brigidan Bogni-Rodriguez

My name is Brigidan Bogni-Rodriguez. I have worked with children for over 30 years in the public and private sector. Working with children has been my joy and passion. After having three children of my own, I enrolled and became active in a cooperative preschool with my girls. I enjoyed taking an active role in their first school experience and in being a school board member. While participating in our school, I quickly became aware of the education that took place not only with the kiddos, but with the parents as well. It was a lot of work, but it was also a fantastic experience. The bonds and relationships that we made during our first school experience still continue today, 21 years later. Prior to coming to Millbrae Nursery School, I was Director of a cooperative preschool for 10 years. I currently hold a permit as Site Supervisor in Early Childhood Education. To remain current with the latest techniques and information in early Childhood Education, I participate and attend classes, workshops and read articles about all the latest studies taking place. Working with young children and their families is very rewarding. I have chosen to work in a cooperative school environment because I believe that it is important to be active in your child’s education. It is a great opportunity to educate the whole family. Both the kiddos and the parents can have a wonderful school experience.

Norma Becerra

I started with Millbrae Nursery School 10 years ago as a co-op parent. I enjoyed it so much that I began to work more days as a teacher’s aide. Millbrae Nursery School inspired me to go back to school and further my education in Early Childhood Development. This year will be my fourth year as a full time teacher for the 2-3 year old class. Millbrae Nursery School, has allowed my 3 school aged children to grow and learn, while giving me the chance to watch and participate in their development. Each and every day the children teach me something which helps me better understand the children I work with as well as my own children. A benefit of the co-op is the relationships made here with the parents and families; a community of ideas, cultural values, and parenting skills. I continue to enhance my abilities by attending workshops, parent meetings, and ECE (Early Childhood Education) classes while I work towards my degree at Cañada College. As a Mom and a Teacher, I have a love and respect for all children, and that is why I chose to be a teacher. Our playground and classroom has been the site of many children’s first school experiences. I am very fortunate to have the opportunity to be a part of that experience. Actively participating in your children’s education is unique and fulfilling. Watching their happiness, excitement, and amazement as they develop reminds me again and again why I love my job!

“My first educational experience was as a child, attending a cooperative preschool in San Francisco. I began working with children while I was in middle school, at summer programs with children ages 4 to 6. Each year, I was asked to return as a volunteer, and after several years I was asked to run the class. It was experiences like these that opened my eyes to how much I enjoyed working with children. I have continued to work with children and have continued to further my education. I currently attend classes at a local college and also attend child development workshops to stay current with teaching methods. My first years here at Millbrae have been quite exciting and a fantastic learning experience. It is wonderful to see the growth in all of these children and to build relationships with their families.”
