I enjoyed it so much that I began to work more days as a teacher’s aide. Millbrae Nursery School inspired me to go back to school and further my education in Early Childhood Development. This year will be my fifteenth year as a full time teacher for the 2-3 year old class. Millbrae Nursery School, has allowed my 3 school aged children to grow and learn, while giving me the chance to watch and participate in their development. Each and every day the children teach me something which helps me better understand the children I work with as well as my own children. A benefit of the co-op is the relationships made here with the parents and families; a community of ideas, cultural values, and parenting skills. I continue to enhance my abilities by attending workshops, parent meetings, and ECE (Early Childhood Education) classes while I work towards my degree at Cañada College. As a Mom and a Teacher, I have a love and respect for all children, and that is why I chose to be a teacher. Our playground and classroom has been the site of many children’s first school experiences. I am very fortunate to have the opportunity to be a part of that experience. Actively participating in your children’s education is unique and fulfilling. Watching their happiness, excitement, and amazement as they develop reminds me again and again why I love my job! Megan Bogni-Rodriguez School Director Working with children has been a passion of mine since I was 14 years old. As the oldest of three sisters and 15 cousins, I naturally stepped into a caretaker role early on, and it shaped my love for guiding and supporting young children. My journey began at a co-op preschool in San Francisco, where I saw firsthand the benefits of families being active, vital participants in their child’s education. I first joined Millbrae Nursery School in 2009, helping during the summer. That experience led to co-teaching with Teacher Norma in the 2-year-old class. In 2019, I moved into the 3-year-old classroom, and by 2022 I was teaching both the 3’s and Pre-K. Over the years, I have loved seeing children light up with excitement as they learn, and just as importantly, I’ve treasured the relationships built with families who grow and learn alongside their children. In 2023, I stepped into the role of Director. It has been an exciting new chapter—supporting not only our amazing teachers and staff, but also ensuring that families feel connected, supported, and empowered in their child’s educational journey. Millbrae Nursery is truly a special community, and I am honored to help carry forward its traditions while continuing to nurture a space where children and families thrive together.
